Email-verified e-signatures
Updated
Anyone who has a signing link can normally sign. When a document matters more, KamiSign can ask a signer to confirm their email address with a one-time code before they are allowed to sign.
How email verification works
- When you send a document, tick which signers must verify. You choose per document and per signer.
- The signer gets a one-time code by email and enters it.
- Only then can they sign. The result is recorded in the Certificate of Completion.
It is off by default, so ordinary documents stay one-click.
What it proves, and what it does not
A correct code shows that the person could read that email inbox at that moment. It does not prove their legal identity. For high-risk documents, combine it with other checks such as an ID check or a phone call.
When to turn it on
- Engagement letters and contracts with new clients
- Documents where the signing link may be forwarded or shared
- Anything you may need to defend later
What the record shows
Every fully signed document comes with a Certificate of Completion listing who signed, when, whether their email was verified, and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the document.
