Sign a Word document online
Updated
To sign a Word document, save it as a PDF first, then add your signature to the PDF. A PDF keeps the layout fixed, so nothing shifts once it is signed.
Steps
- Convert to PDF. In Word, choose File, then Save As or Export, and select PDF. In Google Docs, choose File, then Download, then PDF Document (.pdf). In Pages, choose File, then Export To, then PDF.
- Upload the PDF to KamiSign.
- Add your signature, the date and any text fields.
- Download the signed PDF, or send it to other people to sign.
Tips
- Finish all edits in Word before converting. Changes after signing mean starting again.
- Keep the Word original for future edits and the signed PDF as your record.
- Check page breaks in the PDF before you place fields.
Need other people to sign too?
Add them as signers and send the link by email, SMS or WhatsApp. They sign without an account. See how to send a document for signature.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sign a .docx file directly?
KamiSign works with PDFs, so export your Word document to PDF first. This also keeps the layout from changing.
Is the signed file still editable?
No. The signed PDF is the final record. Keep your Word original if you need to make changes and sign a new version.
Is it free?
You can sign any PDF on the Free plan.
Is a signed Word document legally valid?
Electronic signatures are recognized in many countries, but the rules vary by country, document type and professional body. Check what applies to you and your clients. This is not legal advice.
